Philosophy

The Balaka is an established business having been operating for the last 25 years under the watchful eye of Mr Rouf.

Balaka means swan in Bengali

It supports over 20 members of staff (full time and part time) - most of whom have been with the restaurant since it started. They are a dedicated team. One of the longest serving members of staff is Pius who is the Head Chef. He specialises in Bengali cooking and produces some of the tastiest dishes available.

The Balaka has recently branched out and opened a new restaurant in the city of Dundee which is 14 miles from St Andrews.
